And don't get me wrong, we have the brains and skills (skillz if you're under 13) to make it happen. Like Lex Luthor except successful. And it would've been awesome. Sadly we're also an easily distracted bunch, and in the past 20 years we've hacked every silly item from payphones with a cap'n'crunch whistle to now a roomba vacuum with a wii-mote.
Not exactly around the corner, but if this game turns into a reality (and not based on the older show) I'm already calling it one of my most anticipated titles of '07
[update 12/29 - This has been confirmed as in development by Vivendi. Now we just have to hope it's good. -ed]
I haven't yet played the DS version of Cooking Mama, but I still want to. There's just something fun about using the stylus to cook. But even cooler is using the wiimote.
I knew the Nintendo Wii was hard to find but 'cmon! What this really means is that from now on I'm selling all my stuff on craigslist, eBay never did nothing for me but dig into my profit. Never in all my auctions did someone offer to throw in a bj "to completion" as she puts it. 'Tis the season I suppose.
I'm suprised she wouldn't rather spend $400 on the system elsewhere online and keep herself from having to hand out sexual favors for it.
[For the next few days we'll be looking back at the year that was]
We've been up and running since around June, so there's not a ton of history here but a good portion of the people reading now missed out on some pretty good editorials and stories from earlier in the year. I'd like to highlight a few of them here.
Available Christmas day for all the boys and girls getting Wii's underneath the Christmas Tree.
Street Fighter® II: The World Warrior (Super NES®, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): This game revolutionized the fighting-game genre with characters that had unique fighting skills, speed, special moves and unique endings.
Super Castlevania® IV (Super NES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points): Simon Belmont uses his trusty whip to fight the powers of evil on his way to Dracula's Castle.
Toe Jam & Earlâ„¢ (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Two fun-loving aliens crash on Earth and must find 10 pieces of their spaceship so they can get back home to Planet Funkotron.
R-TYPE® (TurboGrafx16, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): This is a completely faithful port - right down to the character details - of the famous shooting-game masterpiece.
With the exception of the TG-16 price increase from 600 points to 800, it's a damn good lineup of games!
As those of us that celebrate Christmas get together with friends and family, I'd like to just take a moment and thank each and every person involved with this site, writers and readers. I love running this site, and I hope you enjoy reading it.
Whatever holiday you celebrate, I truly wish each and everyone out there the very best. It's a small place... this planet we call home. And we're all in it together. May the new year bring peace on Earth, and goodwill toward men. Corny? maybe. But there's nothing wrong with dreaming big. After all, the world is what we make it.
Of course tomorrow night after all the presents have been opened and the last of the egg nog is gone, we're gonna start hooking up our gizmos and doodads, whozits and whatzits galore. Us included. More than likely we'll be taking the day off but we'll be back to normal on Tuesday. However your day goes tomorrow, make sure you get some gaming in.
Don't ever say that The BBPS doesn't take care of ya.
We'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Though you probably have already seen this, it's still the best gift we could find. Enjoy!
[When a news story falls through the cracks, our own danzuke catches them for a segment we call “Here's what we missedâ€. (In other words, here’s some stuff that happened last week we never told you about, but probably should've. Our bad.)]
The other week our fearless leader danzuke asked me "Jim, what's Boxing Day?" It felt an awful lot like a 3 year old asking you what Christmas is - not because danzuke's mental age has been stunted by years of mixing Twinkies and red wine, but because up here in Canada it's as standard a holiday as Easter and Hallowe'en. So for those of you not in the know, Boxing Day is December 26th, and it's the day we Canadians spend like brain-damaged primates.
Why you ask? Because everything is on sale. EVERYTHING. We're talking brand name 42" plasmas half-off kinda sales. And before you get jealous, I should tell you that we don't have a Canadian equivilant to Black Friday, so we don't really get a break on holiday shopping before hand.
To be honest - I've known people who celebrate Christmas on the evening of the 26th and do all their shopping that day. Can't say that I blame them, but then again, we're talking trailer folk. Wise, wise trailer folk.
So back to what really matters - the deals. There are two stores up in Canada offering the 360 for $100 off the regular price next week. Want to find out which ones? Hit the jump. (sneaky, I know - but every Canadian reader here can benefit a hell of a lot from reading SmartCanucks!)
