TheLastBoss is killing it these days, finding some cool original stories I'm not seeing elsewhere. The latest is a radio stunt pulled out in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis). They held a "contest" to give away a PS3, and the rules were simple. Give away your child for a few days to the disc jockeys and they'll give you the console. Sound like a joke? Good, cause it is. But apparently there were quite a few people that either didn't get the joke or decided a game system was worth giving away their kid for.I weep for the future. Here's the original story. |

Mama told me if you have to explain the joke, it ain't funny... but she also told me chicks don't like to be called broads so what does she know? Sorry mom, you know I'm only joking. Thanksgiving was excellent btw. Ahem, where was I? Anyways, here's some more gaming-related tattoo goodness, the one and only Ryu. Maybe he should get Ken on the other arm... |

It's sure to sell out again soon, but if you want your Wii output to look the best it can (be it only 480p) you'll need these cables. And they've, to put it lightly, been a little hard to find. But over at Nintendo.com they're back in stock... for now. They'll run you $29.99 which let's be honest, that's borderline affordable. But you gotta pay to play. |

I turned on my 360 this morning and BOOM, it wants to update, but what did it do? I'm all about our consoles having internet connections and updating themselves to make them better but I'm getting a little tired of these mystery updates that happen occasionally when I turn on my 360 or pop in a game that I haven't played in a while. While I realize that I can usually read about what's in the update on the net, I shouldn't have to. Why can't there be a message that pops up after the update to inform you about changes that you might like to take a look at? I had to navigate over to Major Nelson's page to figure it out: The next time you sign into Xbox Live, you’ll be prompted for a dashboard update. The update contains: * Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution * Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers * Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy This update is being rolled out across the world, so you may not get it exactly at this moment, so be patient. Please Microsoft, start letting us know what you're doing to our $400 machines instead of leaving us in out in the cold. |

GameDaily has an article up arguing the merits of in-game advertising using the recently-released and somewhat controversial Battlefield 2142.My first gut reaction is NO NO NO NO NO to in-game advertising, but when you really start to think about it it's really the next natural step in development as costs rise and more people start to notice gaming's popularity. Read the article and then argue away in the comments. |

Hot off the presses, straight from Gamepolitics.com:"A Federal District Court Judge has dealt a fatal blow to Louisiana’s video game law.The statute, drafted by controversial Miami attorney Jack Thompson, was ruled unconstitutional earlier today by Judge James Brady. In August Judge Brady issued a temporary injunction which blocked the law from taking effect. That ban is now permanent. More to follow…" Head on over to Gamepolitics.com for more as the story develops. |

Earlier this week, 4 color rebellion ran a piece showcasing the Gears of War sketches of 4cr reader NoBullet. I was blown away and couldn't pass up the opportunity to hunt down more of his work. It turns out that the GoW sketches were just the tip of the iceberg - this guy had talent coming out the wazoo. I was lucky enough to get in touch with NoBullet to discuss his life as an artist and a gamer, and here's what he had to say. |

Finally, an announcement this week that I can get excited about. When I was 7 years old, this game was KING at my local arcade. For all of you young whipper snappers out there that haven't experienced a side scrolling beat'em up with co-op play that could rock your grandmothers socks off, the line starts behind me. Largely forgotten by any Top 100 list you can think of, Double Dragon pretty much gave birth to the beat'em up genre. As the cool kids like to say, give this title mad respect, yo. No word on a release date or price point, but what else do you expect from a new XBLA announcement? [via Kotaku] |
