1st Impressions- Godfather: Blackhand edition for the Wii

gfwii1.jpgPicked up Godfather for the Wii yesterday and I have this to say. If you have a Wii and are old enough to buy M rated games, there should be no excuse to why you don't have the game.

I slammed a college kid's head into a tombstone by holding the Z and B buttons, dragged him over to a tombstone and did a right and down motion toward said tombstone and whacked his head off of it like 3 times! Who doesn't want to do that?

So far I've only played it for about a half but in that time, I took over a bakery and a barbershop. So now I receive the proceeds from those 2 businesses. See, you work for the Corleone family, and when the Don wants you to take over someones shop, you take it over. It was funny cause the Barber did not want to let his shop go, so I smacked him in the face a few times but he didn't budge. So I punched his cash register and stole $46. Still he didn't budge so I socked him in his mouth twice and it was a done deal.

So the game is really cool, the driving is actually really good. You accelerate with the B button, brake with the Z button and steer with the analog stick on the nunchuck.

The Blackhand version is awesome, and I wouldn't ever wanna play it on any other system. I just wish the graphics were better and I wish I could create a black dude, for the true black hand edition. Well, I guess since I'm black and I get to drop people using my hands, that's good enough to ensure that it is a true black hand edition.

2nd impressions-

Who knew you could drift a heavy 1940s truck on thin white wall tires?

So I'm 2 hours into the game, I'm still enjoying it. It got a little scary when I finally got to use a gun since I've been using a dual analog setup for a decade. But after the initial shock wore off, I was capping dudes in the knee caps like crazy.

The shooting mechanics fit the game really well. There's a auto aim and a free aim. The free aim is self explanitory but I don't use it at all. You may think I'm not hardcore enough, but I can't sit far enough away from my TV to have a accurate aim. Also the auto aim function feels the best for me. While the game positions your crosshairs over a target, you can still have a bit of free aim, shooting guys in their arm, sending their gun flying. Or shooting them in the kneecaps.

The driving in the game, while tolerable, is kinda boring. The cars are mad slow and big. During chase missions, I was hoping it was almost over. Another problem that I have with the game and every other sandbox game after playing Crackdown, the running feels too slow. I have to admidt, I am a spoiled Crack(down) baby. I don't want to use cars, I want to jump and shoot people, and I wanna jump over buildings. Unfortunately, not only are there no futuristic attribute enhancing suits and, there are no black people. Those are the 2 biggest differences in the 2 games.

Crackdown has mad black people in it. Well compared to other games. Maybe cause there's crack in the title. Crazy racial undertones. I'm onto you guys! (totally joking people) Since there are no black people, once again I have to question the title of the game. Who's black hand is it? Upon purchasing the game, a girl at my job asked me if the black hand edition was made specifically for me, and of course I said yes.

Well, I've heard quite a bit about the control scheme for the game. It's supposed to be pretty good. And I haven't played the original, so that's a plus.

It's times like this when I wish I was 18. D:

I loved it on the 360. I only wish I'd had more time to play it before I could return it.
