dreamcast.jpgIf game systems were like movies, The Dreamcast is that little indie foreign flick that everyone raves about, but no one sees. They're too busy going to see blockbusters like Bad Boys 2 or Snakes on a Plane. Maraca simulators and typing-zombie crossover games just dont appeal to the gaming public at large. The little system that could, unfortunatly didn't. But those of us that love games love the Dreamcast.

Sega had eroded most fans with the 32X, Sega CD, Saturn, and Game Gear. The Dreamcast never really had a fair shot. Such a shame.

Here's to the Dreamcast, launched 7 years ago today.

Salute.

Unfortunately, the Dreamcast came out during that dark period where I wasn't into video games (it was a drought that was post-NES and picked back up because of fuckin' Halo). I have, however, had a chance to spend some time with one, mostly because of Samba Di Amigo. Hours have been spent playing that, the second best rhythm game I've ever played (next to Guitar Hero, of course).

And leave SoaP alone, it's far from a blockbuster. I believe the American movie-going public spoke out to make that happen. I feel personally attacked...jerk.

lets face it; if it wasn't for the dreamcast, the wii wouldn't be coming out. there i said it. here's to the system that ran for a few good years on pure creativity. it was the first system with online capability, the 1st 128bit system, i'm pretty sure it was the first to like a hand heldesk system with a enterainment system (any one else actually use the vmu as a tamagotchi pet?) and seiously, who comes out with a fishng rod controller? if only they fired peter moore sooner and didn't focus all of their attention towards software...
