ARG Gears of War viral campaign? Seems like it...

Looks like we've got a new ARG (Alternate Reality Game) picking up speed... It's just starting up now, a little strange for a viral campaign since usually these things start real quiet like and then build up. I don't think people usually even know what they're for in the beginning. Not to mention the fact that this one is pretty up front, nothing really to figure out yet...

So far these two images have popped up, messages from MFenix (lead character in Gears of War) and LocustHordeH8r (The Locust Horde being the main enemy in the game)- click 'em to embiggen 'em

According to MFenix's gamer motto we can expect something new tomorrow (which by that I mean today).

We'll see where this takes us I suppose. I had fun with the I Love Bees and Our Colony campaigns, and back in the day the one for the movie A.I.

This one doesn't seem as inspired as I Love Bees or anything, but I still like this type of marketing. If for no other reason that it makes the advertisers work a little harder than usual. Of course the people trying to crack the game still do most of the word-of-mouth and hype generating, but at least the advertisers have to get their feet wet.
