Adnil's current level: 39

Well, here it is. I'm on the cusp of reaching level 40, which means that I'll soon have my mount. For those of you that don't know a mount is a creature that you can conjur and ride to get places MUCH quicker than any previous travel form whether that be walking or my shaman's Ghost Wolf. Naturally this type of convenience doesn't just automatically come with dinging 40, it costs 90 gold to simply learn how to ride a mount and another 10 gold to buy one. When you add in all the new class skills I'll be able to train for you're looking at a grand total of about 110 gold that I'm gonna be spending all at once. In terms of expenses, this is the first truly big one that you encounter in the game. Seeing that I started this level with roughly 40 gold, I had a lot of farming in my future before I hit 40.

This is the Elekk mount I'll be able to buy, seeing that I'm of the Draenei race.

My main professions are mining and jewelcrafting. While jewelcrafting costs me more to make the items than I get selling them I knew that I had to turn to mining to be my own personal gold farm. As I previously mentioned I've been running around Stranglethorn Vale with Dan and while his herbalism gathering has skyrocketed since being there my mining has been stagnant due to the major lack of veins available for me to mine. Like any WoW player who doesn't feel like wasting time would do I immediately hit up WoW Head to find out where the best place for me to mine would be. Taking into account where I was already located and where I could easily travel I decided to head to an area just north of Dalaran (yes, that's the server name too) and pick off all the iron and mithril veins I could get my pick on.

After a few trips there I had a couple of stacks of ore and bars so I headed to the auction house, hitting up the bank to empty my stash on the way, and started posting my auctions. A day later I checked my mail and found that I had done reasonable well, but I also knew that it was going to take a bunch more time to get the rest of the gold I needed. At this point I had about 65 gold in my bag. Also like any half-heated WoW player you talk about the game with anyone who has ears, so my brother-in-law naturally knew about my upcoming conquest and expense of hitting 40 and getting a mount. His level 70 (the cap) friend is on the same server as I am and has been thinking about quitting. A couple of days ago I logged on, checked my mail and found a message from him with 300 gold attached! After writing a very effusive and thankful message back I now have 40 dead in my sights and should have hit the ding by next week, providing that Dan and I can get together enough in that time.
