What's in a Name? - call us thebbps for short

When you're starting a website, the domain name is probably the toughest thing to figure out. For us, we went back and forth for a while, and usually the names we liked were bought up with the attempt to resell them. Bastards.

So as a joke, and because it rhymed, I registered thebbps.com. My original intention was to use the domain name itslikeanything.com, and bitsbytespixelssprites would be my testing area. So I throw my software up, start playing with templates and post some stories to get to know how this thing was going to work. Next thing I know we're getting hits and someone submitted a story to digg. Destructoid picked up a story, then Kotaku, then Joystiq. I guess I never planned on anyone finding us.

So basicially, you can say this domain name is really kind of an accident. Through the months, I've grown attached to it. It goes against almost every rule of web domains, but it's not like we're trying to be fark over here. So the hell with it, we're running with it.

Florian over at Kotaku has given a few good natured jabs, and like they say, no press is bad press. Besides I like his posts, and he's a funny dude. Playfeed.com had some harsher words, but they can go eat a dick cause no one reads their site anyway. Most people seem to dig it. But I understand the problems it causes, so we're bringing in a new address that'll bounce you over here.

nice and short. thebbps.com, just call us thebbps for short. It's all good.

Dont let Playfeed.com get you down, to be honest thats the first time I've ever heard of them. Joystiq, Kotaku, and TheBBPS are my 3 main reference points - beyond platform specific websites. I dont even prefer the fanboy websites over you guys. No disrespect but I think greshkov is my favorite writer but you guys are all great. Keep up the great work! And check out GarysBasem3nt.com for sports and video games, not to mention our 30 team NHL 2k7 League!
