Bioshock widescreen issues cause the internet to explode

Seems that Bioshock isn't really truly playing in widescreen on that 16:9 set of yours. In fact all signs point to the fact that the widescreen player is actually seeing less of the screen than his 4:3 counterpart.

In the wake of this news, the 2K forums have essentially caught on fire... with no end in sight. And if you think they're pissed, check out the folks over the the WideScreenGamingForum.com!

Creative Director Ken Levine has responded in the 2K forums, and it would seem he's looking into it. I've been playing it 16:9 all night and I haven't felt like it's been a problem. It's lame to know it exists, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

Dumb question, but is it possible this is just a PC-version issue? I haven't been following this nearly as closely as I should have been.

@Jim: I thought the same, but it's been confirmed on the 360 as well.

Here comes the WHAAAA-mbulance.

Situations like this remind me why I hate the internet sometimes. People are saying they refuse to purchase the game now due to the issue and I'll guess there will be a petition and/or a lawsuit brought up for this.

To be honest, if the folks at WidescreenGaming didn't test this (like they do everything) I doubt anyone would notice.

Some comments just make me laugh, people are saying they are disappointed in 2K Boston for the error and they should know better. Sure they've made, probably thr 2006 Game of the Year, but this just totally ruins the experience doesn't it? No, it doesn't!

Seriously, it sucks... but I'm sure it'll get looked into hardcore. People need to chill and not turn into a mini-Jack Thompson over it all.

Once you've played with a widescreen FOV, it's hard to go back. I played WoW exclusively on my 16x10 laptop- one time I tried playing on my 4x3 PC monitor, and it was really odd, since I couldn't see as far in the peripheral.

Deal-breaker for Bioshock? Nah. Apparently 2K has responded that they didn't zoom for 16x9, they added height for 4x3. That's good (zoom would be the worst), but it's still sloppy. Hopefully it'll get fixed in a patch.

This is way blown out of proportion. It's not really a big deal at all. Anyone who cares about this is freakin' retarded. All people do is complain. IMHO, this is one of the best games every made. I am thoroughly impressed and to have people make a big deal about this is taking away from the game.
