Calling All "Fucktards" (Jaffe Attacks!)

Calling All Cars

It seems as though Joystiq's snarky comment about the delay of Calling All Cars got David Jaffe all hot and bothered. Jaffe recently took umbrage with some less-than-glowing reviews of the upcoming PlayStation Network title, and Joystiq (naturally) suggested that Jaffe was withholding the title to address some of the issues detailed in those reviews.

Jaffe's response?

Fuck you, guys. Go fuck yourselves. What other developer makes a fucking change to a game when a review (IGN's in this case) has a good, valid point and is willing to open the fucking code up at the risk of more bugs to make the game better? Amazing. But hey, you guys are great, you guys rock. I hope Kotaku fucking puts your ass out of business, wanna be fucktards. And if you were actual journalists you would have read the motherfucking quote I posted on NEOGAF where I said because of the two bugs we needed to fix (not because I was afraid of the bargin bin) we had a window of opp. to fix the magnet problem. Assholes...total fucking assholes.

Though Jaffe refuses to name the target of his attack, Joystiq would seem to be the logical assumption based on various aspects of the rant. The Kotaku reference and the mention of the "bargin [sic] bin" really seal the deal.

Jaffe absolutely has the right to respond to his critics, be it with his words or with his work, but the over-the-top vulgarity undermines his points and is quickly turning into a shtick. As a reader, I'm amused by the sensationalism; but as a writer and a mature being, I'm put off by the childish insults.

Jaffe explains himself better when his thoughts are fully realized and not taken out of context...not that this is really but for most of the full rant he doesn't rely on the vulgarity and what not, but your point is taken.

True, but the rest of his blog post addresses the issue just fine without resorting to vulgarity. There was really no reason for this kind of sloppy attack, even if the rest of the rant is fine.

He's only hurting the impact of his points by sinking below the level of the people who criticize him or his work.

I agree with both you guys. I like Jaffe, but him going on the screaming and cursing rampage doesn't help his cause at all. It just makes people think that he's self centered. I do understand that it must be frustrating to always have people being negative about almost everything now a days. I think its cool that he's taking the time out to fix a few of the bugs that plagued the review copies, but he should have never announced a street date.

I like Jaffe because he's very "direct" in his comments, which is refreshing and entertaining.

Although I've to say that this comment is really over-the-top...

/nice website BTW.
