What does it take to scan a car for Gran Turismo HD (hint: it's A LOT!)

We all knew from playing Gran Turismo that the detail in each car is beyond amazing, in fact it's a bit crazy. But (with the exception of damage) no one can argue with the fact that Polyphony Digital have created the most realistic driving game ever. Now we get a little sneak peak behind the scenes to show exactly what goes into scanning one of the cars for the game.

"They have a crew of 40 people that are going to spend the next six months building our car for the game. That's the amount of detail"

This specific story is about the 1960 Chevrolet Corvette contest winner, but the same time and care is put into every car in the game.

I have to disagree, the most realistic racing game by far is excite bike...where else can you fall off your bike in mid-air from about a 20 ft jump and get up, get back on, and continue racing?
