though this nod to GTA is nice, it's not going to translate into increased sales of coke.
coke has no relevance.
When a big company borrows a pop culture reference, I know it's easy to say "Hrg! They're teh p0zurs!", and I'm sure to the cheers of all social bashing anti-fanboys, but to claim with a straight face that an established market leader has no relevance... please.
If you're in the position where your product's name is a household name worldwide, there is no appreciable room for "increase of sales" until we begin selling to our interstellar visitors (if such ever appear). Maintenance of sales is the name of the game, and Coke has proved very good at that. There have been dozens, if not hundreds, of products that hoped to dismount Coke, and interestingly enough the closest anyone has ever come to doing so was Coke itself with the failed "New Coke".
While it may not be your personal favorite fizzy beverage, to marginalize their market position as "not relevant" shows a peculiar and astute short-sightedne ss.
I just like the ad. Heck anything that doesn't make me want to hunt down and choke the #$%# who made it gets my tumbs up.
As everybody else says, a bit "late", but better late than never!
And is not so late!!! If it was made in the time that GTA was release, at 5 year ago, most of the public (more than now) was gonna missed the point!!!!
Chears from Brazil!
Bye!
Don't let anyone tell you advertising is not an art form. This GTA inspired ad actually makes me want to drink coke.
