Collectors Editions reach new heights (or lows depending on your point of view) with Modern Warfare 2 "Prestige Edition"

Hey man, I admit it... I've bought more than my fair share of Collector Editions for games over the years. Some have been stupid and regretted immediately (like Assassin's Creed) and some I only grew to regret later (Halo 3 for example). It's not that I didn't like the games, cause I like them just fine... but I've grown weary of Special-Uber-Hyper-Mega-Limited-ZOMG packages of games. Just give me the game.

Point of order, I'd like to make it known that the "Prestige Edition" of Modern Warfare 2 comes with fucking night vision goggles and a plastic head to display them on so you won't have to use your cat like when you got that Spartan Helmet with Halo 3. Of course knowing Activision only one lens on it will work until you buy the Super Cool "Dual Lens DLC pack" that will release day and date with the game and let you actually use the thing properly. No price on this thing yet but I am calling it now... this pack will sell for exactly $ Shit.Ton dollars (USD).

Walt Disney hated separating the "Haves" from the "Have Nots", this is just disgusting. Just release the damn game, give everyone equal treatment and be happy were buying your game. I admit, cool, but fuck you.

Now I feel cheated that we didn't get a Metal Gear MK II and a Solid Eye pack-in with MGS4.

I'm with you on this one, Dan. I've bought many super duper special edition version of games, including the Legendary Halo 3 bundle, only to regret spending the cash later. Now I have a stupid fucking Spartan helmet sitting in my room which absolutely NO ONE appreciates. I don't think I'll ever get something so ornate ever again.

And yet, those night vision goggles look pretty sweet....

My guess on this one is $120-$150.
Of course since I already have NVGs, it's not really a selling point for me. I think I'll be just fine with the regular version, all though the middle version in the Steelbook is sweet.

Somehow it ate part of my post, I said I guess the price point will be somewhere between one twenty and one fifty dollars.
