Coolest Bonus Pack-In EVA

On my last trip to Best Buy I stumbled upon this glorious piece of cross-promotion for only $19.99. A while back I had picked up Lionel Trains: On Track for the DS and read about this Wiffle Ball title that the same company had made. While I had never seen it in stores I was always this close to buying it on eBay or Amazon. Luckily for me, I never pulled the trigger. As soon as I saw this in the store I was immediately drawn to it like the proverbial moth to the flame. Something about Wiffle Ball just clicks with me. It reminds me of summers long since past when I never had to work and my only concern was getting together with my friends and playing Wiffle Ball.

The DS game is actually none too shabby. It's not chock-full of features and options but it does control decently. You use the stylus to swing while you're at bat, naturally. Like most baseball-style games it takes some getting used to the timing and nuances but once you do you'll be cranking out homers left and right. The pitching mechanics are decent but simple. It's almost best to just let them hit the ball instead of trying to strike them out since you have control of a steady fielder to catch the ball once it's hit. Overall the game isn't very challenging but it's still a lot of fun and can be played wirelessly, though you'll both need your own cart.

For $19.99 getting a DS game and a brand new, official Wiffle Ball and bat is a steal in this writer's book. Click on the image for a close up of the packaging.
