Afew days ago I scoured the Internet for the best, worst, and strangest Xbox 360 faceplates; some were awe-inspiring, some not so much. Now I’m taking console customization to the next level with a new series dedicated to several seriously awesome console mods (which are way cooler than faceplates, right?). The first part of this series will be all about the Xbox 360, followed by the top Wii and PS3 mods. So read on to see the five best Xbox 360 mods, in order of their level of win and awesome.
#5: Retro Arcade
This one made the list because it brought back long lost feelings of spending entire evenings at the arcades investing a tons of quarters on various games, particularly Gauntlet. I must've spent a small fortune on that game, though I never beat it. Anyways, this clever console mod by ShaolinDrunkard integrates the retro 80's arcade feel with everyone's favorite unreliable console.

#2: Gators of War
Alright, alright, I know that title sucks. Forgive my lack of creativity in naming this duo of mods by dfw monkie who has created a Gears of War mod and a rather creepy alligator one as well (that eye is extremely unsettling).

It even lights up, increasing it's level of awesome tenfold!

#3: Feeling Blue?
Not only does this mod look cool, it also solves the console's overheating problem with an internal liquid cooling system. Now that's a real mod: something that improves the look as well as the performance of the console. Bravo, Dano 2K0. Well done good sir.

#2: The Mod to Die For
But it looks as if someone beat me to it. I'm a big fan of blood and gore, I like to have it in all aspects of life. Unfortunately, I haven't yeat foudn a way to bring my love of all things scary to my gaming consoles, as I have absolutely no modding talent whatsoever (my broken PS2 can attest to that fact). R. Midian Muir has solved my little problem with this beautifully brutal and bloody mod for the 360. I want this. Bad.

#1: The Console from City 17
If Gordon Freeman was a gamer, this is the console he would use. This one makes #1 not only because it is freaking awesome, or because of its exvellent use of the orange/grey color scheme, but also because it has something to do with Half-Life... Half-Life stuff gets an instant win in my opinion. Think I'm bias? You're probably right. I' be first in line to buy this console should PinPoint decide to begin mass producing these, and I recommend that he bundles it with a copy of The Orange Box.
