A great cosplay costume turns horribly wrong...

I've never understood the cosplay thing. It seems like you're going through a lot of trouble to be stared at. Don't get me wrong, alot of times I think its kinda cool (especially when it's cute Japanese girls). And normally, I'd think this was awesome:

Tentacle Cosplay.jpg

It's the Tentacles from Day of the Tentacle!

Looking at this picture I see one thing, they didn't think enough ahead to know where they were putting the badges.

More pics here, here, and here.

It should've ended here, then I could've just said, "that's cool". See while I know in my heart this is beyond geeky, I have a soft spot for LucasArts games and UberGeeks in general. Don't ask me why, I'd never do this personally. But instead they decide to take it a stop further.

The guys, dressed as tentacles, dressed as Link and Zelda.

It's like geek on top of nerd coupled with social outcast.

You know what this means? Someone took the time to make a costume, and then they made a costume to fit the other costume. I'm not sure whether to be awed or horrified.

Awww.. who am I kidding... this is cool.

cute.
all cosplayers should do two to four layers of costumes to hide their acne and cholesterol-filled diabetes-inducing shame. THAT MEANS YOU MAN-FAYE!

Hah! I'm so entertained when these photos make their way around-they were taken at Otakon 2006, just last weeken.d (Aug 4-6) Otakon is an anime convention held every year in Baltimore-good times. smilies/smiley.gif I saw these guys at the con, they couldn't walk 5 feet without getting a picture taken. smilies/smiley.gif

You should see some of the OTHER costumes lurking about the con...

Actually Purple has been around at least since O2k04 (first year I went) while Green was a new addition this year (I think its his girlfriend or a close friend)

Purple also has cosplayed as well since at the con he IS the purple tentical, as in its the Purple Tentical going to the con, not the person inside at this point (he has become so well known as Purple Tenticle he stopped getting out of the costume since everyone expects him to be in it). Last year, he was Vash the Stampede from Trigun, with a red coat, and zigzagged Monocle (since there is only one "eye" on Tenti) and all.

Whaddaya mean they didn't think of where to put the badge? It seems to fit so nicely around the top sucker.
