With the announcement of Lego Rock Band now official, I start to worry whether the good ol’ RB has jumped the shark along with Guitar Hero. Do we really need a full on Rock Band based on Legos? What do they have to do with each other? Granted, Star Wars and Lego have no common ground, but those games are awesome. So perhaps it may be okay, and like TheBBPS shared on Twitter, the inclusion of Europe’s “The Final Countdown” may be enough to justify purchasing the game. So while Rock Band is on the path to selling out, let me offer a couple of suggestions that I’d like to see:
ROCK BAND: THE SMITHS This will never happen for three reasons. 1. Very few people would buy it, despite them being the greatest band of all time ever (True, I’m bias.) 2. Morrissey would never let it happen. 3. The world is against me. That being said, I would kill for this game. I adore The Smiths, and Moz, and the guitar work of Johnny Marr is just begging to be hammered out on some plastic buttons. I have a feeling though that you’d fail every single vocal performance because no is good enough to match Morrissey. Did I mention I’m a huge Smiths fan? Like, huge. Really huge.
FAKE ROCK BAND: Sure there are a few songs on Rock Band already by fictitious acts (Vesuvius, Stephen & The Colberts,) but I want a full release. Mostly, I’d love to play multiple tracks from Dewey Cox (Walk Hard,) The Wonders (That Thing You Do!) and Jem. Jesse and the Rippers, Hey That’s My Bike!, Spinal Tap and others could be thrown in for good measure. Hey, a guy can dream can’t he. I mean....if Legos got their own Rock Band game.....

I support the inclusion of the Wonders only if there are costumes for Capt. Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters

I think we should at least wait to see what it is before we start firing off warning shots. Harmonix hasn't steered us wrong yet, have they?
