Damn! Even My Nintendo DS knows how to cook better than me...

DS-Cooks.gifIt's not a well hidden fact in my life that neither me or my girlfriend enjoy cooking. And while I do more of the cooking around the house, we're both seriously lacking the ability and know-how to cook. If only we lived in Japan, then at least we'd have the know-how covered, thanks to the Nintendo DS cookbook (I don't know the actual title, since the site is all Japanese).

It would seem that you can select from various recipies and then the DS will list ingredients and tell you what to do, and you just say "OK!" to move to the next step. If I had this maybe I could move beyond the 3 things that I cook on a normal basis.

It's simply a genius use of the DS hardware, and since the chances of seeing this stateside are next to nil, I'll just have to keep wanting and waiting. Of course I thought the same thing about Brain Age and Electroplankton.

What will they think of next?

That's very cool -- and a pretty smart marketing move on the part of Nintendo. The DS is already a big seller with seniors due to the whole "brain training" fad. Now it seems like Nintendo is targeting housewives with this particular feature.

I think there's a very large market for this kind of thing out there... They always try to cram a little gaming into every device we own... how about craming a little of everything into our gaming machine? I'll play a little NSMB and then cook something.
