Anyone remember the Vectrex? I remember the Vectrex. Hell -- I owned the Vectrex. Vector based graphics were a fantastic oddity of early 80's gaming, and the Vectrex brought thought to your living room. And while Gravity Crash is in no way associated with the Vectrex, something tells me had it been released 25 years ago it would have been a system seller on that thing.
Gravity Crash promises vintage arcade shooter action mixed with a healthy does of terrain-navigation. Taking your ship through jaggy-rock filled alien caverns looks like it's going to offer a hell of a challenge. What's more, you'll need to factor in each planets gravitational pull to navigate your ship safely. Water hazards, volcanic eruptions, and other spontaneous danger will pop up to impede your progress, not to mention a myriad of bad guys look to shoot you out of the sky.

At release the game will feature 37 different planets, all with their own distinct set of challenges. But that doesn't matter. Here's the real meat and potatoes: Gravity Crash will ship with a level editor and allow you to upload your user-generated content. Think LBP or N+. If anything, I think N+ is quite an apt comparison. The whole thing comes across with this N+ meets Geometry Wars vibe. I think this one is going to have a level of difficulty and old school charm very similar to what we saw with N+.
No word on a release date yet, but Gravity Crash will be available exclusively to PS3 and PSP owners via the PlayStation Store.
Hit the jump for a few more screenshots to see how crazy difficult these levels really end up looking.
