gh80.jpgWell here it is... fresh off the wire. The final song list for Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's. To those out there hoping there'd be some last minute gold level additions, you're gonna be disappointed. The new additions have a few "ok" songs but nothing that screams "buy me."

It obvious now that the songs that were cheap to license but weren't very good have been relegated to this expansion pack. 'Bout the only new one here I'm diggin is Seventeen. If you're excited for this one, you can pick it up on July 24th for the PS2 only.

New Tracks:

  • Caught in a Mosh (as made famous by Anthrax)

  • Balls to the Wall (as made famous by Accept)

  • Electric Eye (by Judas Priest)

  • Los Angeles (as made famous by X)

  • Police Truck (as made famous by Dead Kennedys)

  • We Got the Beat (as made famous by The Go Go's)

  • (I Think I'm) Turning Japanese (as made famous by Vapors)

  • Seventeen (as made famous by Winger)

  • Because, it's Midnite (by Limozeen)

Previously announced tracks are...

  • Hold On Loosely (as made famous by .38 Special)

  • No One Like You (as made famous by Scorpions)

  • Only a Lad (as made famous by Oingo Boingo)

  • Ballroom Blitz (as made famous by Krokus)

  • The Warrior (by Scandal)

  • What I Like About You (as made famous by The Romantics)

  • Wrath Child (as made famous by Iron Maiden)

  • I Wanna Rock (by Twisted Sister)

  • I Ran (by Flock of Seagulls)

  • Round and Round (as made famous by Ratt)

  • Metal Health (as made famous by Quiet Riot)

  • Holy Diver (as made famous by Dio)

  • Heat Of The Moment (as made famous by Asia)

  • Radar Love (as made famous by White Lion)

  • 18 and Life (as made famous by Skid Row)

  • Bathroom Wall (as made famous by Faster Pussycat)

  • Lonely is the Night (as made famous by Billy Squier)

  • Nothing But a Good Time (as made famous by Poison)

  • Play With Me (as made famous by Extreme)

  • Shaken (as made famous by Eddie Money)

  • Synchronicity II (as made famous by The Police)

"Seventeen" by Winger exites you? UUGH!! Watch the video, "HOW MANY NOTES DOES KIP WINGER ACTUALLY PLAY ON THAT BASS OF HIS??!?!?!?" I mean, he flings it around like a fucking drum corps baton twirler, but he never plays a single goddamn chord!!! What a poser.

Anthrax, Priest and Maiden are face-melters, and I can dig a few of the others (Dio, Accept, even ASIA), but as far as a track-list that celebrates the guitar as an instrument, this one utterly fails!!!

Some of this stuff is good, but I have to ask...

Where did these guys grow up? These are not the 80's classics I was thinking about.

I'm calling it, these guys grew up in the town where the movie Footloose was based and they missed some good tracks in their town.

Dan, I too am hoping that "Seventeen" exciting you is tongue-in-cheek.

It's finally, completely and undeniably official: they fucking blew it.

It's a damn shame I won't be on the podcast this week.

I think my reference to 17 more has to do with the song being about high school girls than anything else.

So, you ARE a dirty old man, Dan.

Christ, I hate Winger. And Ratt. And Poison. And White Lion. And Skid Row. And Faster Pussycat. And Motely Crue. Especially Crue!!

I thought, after 20 years, I could finally put this burning hatred to rest. Then this stupid game comes out and rekindles it. Metal never was/will be popular and that's fine. But POSERS WILL ALWAYS SUCK COCK!!!!!

Fuckin' A!!! I just noticed this:

They have the fucking gall write out the subtitle to this lame-assd game (Rocks the 80s) in the goddamn IRON MAIDEN font!!!

That's it! Letter bomb to Activision!!!

Well, it's not a total fuck up. I mean Caught In A Mosh is a Wicked Anthrax song, as is Holy Diver a wicked Dio song. I also love that they have Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Where the did fuck up was the inclusion of things like a Flock of Seagulls in the game the worst songs by most of the hair metal bands. If it was $20 maybe I would consider buying it, but it's not so I'm not going to buy it and neither is anyone else. Just like the downloadable content on Xbox live.

Did Flock of Seagulls even have a guitar player in the band? Weren't they just 2 guys with stupid haircuts playing synths and a drum machine?

I could be wrong on this, but I think we might've stumbled on a sensitive topic for rdaneel

smilies/smiley.gif

Our only hope is that they let us d/l songs individually on the 360 so we can get the one or two worth getting.

I am The Last Metalhead. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Besides, it's a slow day at the office.

apparently i have a different viewpoint. these songs really ARE good classic 80's songs, its just that most of them have very minimal guitar parts in them

well, im going to say a few things. guitar hero is fun, but gets old real quick if the songs aren't fun. all the same, we play it out of boredom and its better than spankin it in the bathroom. lol. at the same time, i think they are overplaying the role too much. guitar hero is old news. so lets all step into a new era-my idea, Drum Hero. think about all the badass drum beats you could have, i also would make a free mode, just play any type of beat you want. my price would be 115$ for the 5 piece set and game. what do you guys think about this idea???

Hmmmm Drum Hero... well then we get into another cool option, what if they make a "band" with both guitar and drum, and create a game that multiple people of different talents can enjoy... by the way, the song list for GH3 isnt THAT great, but it's still playable.
