When you think of games that fall under the mantle of spiritual successor to Marble Madness, chances are you're thinking of games like Super Monkey Ball or Marble Blast Ultra. While they definitely have their merits, they're not alone in their quest for the throne.

Enjoy a little marble madness? Get on the ball with these five great marble games.

Kororinpa: Marble Mania - Wii - $9.99

It may be hard to pronounce, but Kororinpa does something Super Monkey Ball couldn't -- it made moving a marble with a wiimote easy and fun. Controlling the environment rather than the ball, Kororinpa offers a selection of different marbles that all handle differently. Bonus points for the cuteness factor of panda and pigfaced marbles.

Hamsterball Gold - PC - $14.99

Of all the games on the list, Hamsterball Gold is the closest to Marble Madness. It's website even lists it as a tribute to that game, a description that's certainly apt. Obstacles, brilliant level design, and a strict time limit keep you on your toes and you attempt to maneuver your ball to the the goal line.

Trials of Topoq - PlayStation Store - $4.99

Like many titles on the PlayStation Network, Trials of Topoq does things a little differently. Utilizing the PlayStation Eye you control the ball by pushing it along the course with your body. You can push it around with your hand like the gentleman in the video above, hip check it, whatever you want. Get creative, perverts.

Mercury Meltdown - PSP - $19.99

The sequel to Archer Maclean's Mercury, Mercury Meltdown swaps out the traditional marble for -- you guessed it -- mercury. Unlike the first three games on this list, Mercury is as much about puzzles as it is about movement. getting different blobs of mercury to different colored goals allows you to progress -- the trick is you need to get them there simultaneously. Ahh, fun with mercury.

Switchball - XBLA - 800 points

Our final entry on this list is the oft overlooked Switchball on Xbox Live Arcade. Some many Live Arcaders swear by Marble Blast Ultra that this one just flew under their radar. Switchball takes everything that's great about a traditional rolling ball game and mixes in some puzzle elements not unlike Mercury Meltdown.
