Fuck You Uwe Boll, Fuck You

This is stunning and completely tasteless. I'm not what you would call a "bleeding heart" American, but this clip enrages me. It simply exists for "shock value" and nothing else. The man is just trying to offend for the sake of being offensive. How anyone could be voluntarily involved in the making of this is beyond my belief.

Postal and Postal 2 were stupid games, poorly done with no greater purpose than to be "edgy". I know for a fact that what you'll see below has nothing to do with either one of the games.

I present to you, dear reader, the opening clip of Uwe Boll's "Postal":

Ok - I'm going to try not to catch any fire for this one, so I'm going to try to be as delicate as I can here.

The heart of the Postal series was it's ability to be offensive just for the sake of offensive. It was needlessly over the top and able to illicit rage in just about everyone. This clip is completely in the same spirit.

Also - and here's where you're all going to turn on me - it really is kind of funny. I get it - 9/11 sucked ass - but so did the Kennedy assassination and the Holocaust, but we can all make jokes about those. Some people feel like enough time has passed, some people don't. Putting this in a film now is a pretty smart move because A) people like me will find it funny and B) people like Kevin will be offended, generating controversy and free promotion for the movie.

That's my two cents.

I sort of understand what you're trying to say, I just can't see how ANYONE who has ANY sense would find this funny. What in the hell is funny about that clip?

If there's anyone who has the clout to even think about making a joke out of 9/11 at this point, that person most certainly is NOT Uwe Boll.

I'm all for being left of center and laughing at things that aren't supposed to be funny, the guys who make South Park have this down pat, but because the aim of the Postal games was to try and be offensive for its own sake does not validate their own existence or make them "good". Same goes for this clip. I don't think I'm overreacting to this, but I also don't think that I'm promoting the film, this clip is a lot of places, not just here. There's a countless number of more important things for me to get in a tizzy over, things that actually matter.

Agreed - and I don't think you're necessarily over-reacting -- just reacting differently than I would. And controversy is great promotion for a film -- after all, I had no interest in seeing this until you posted about it, and that's the honest to god truth. Now I'm curious and will probably keep my ear to the ground for more clips as they surface.

I won't call the clip offensive just because I'm not usually ever offended by something...

I have a severly perverted sense of humor and can laugh at just about anything, no matter how horrible the situation (I've told more than a few jokes that left people in shock and disgust)... but here's the rub, IT NEEDS TO BE FUNNY. This clip here, isn't funny. To me there's a huge difference.

I can make some sexist crack to a friend and it's all in good fun cause she knows I'm a big pushover when it comes to women (plus she always slugs me when I do it). That's a different story than telling those jokes because you just hate women.

It's not that it's too soon, or that it's untouchable as source material... it's the fact that it's there for no reason other to piss people off. And that's not a valid reason. (There are people affected by 9/11 that will think it's too soon, and for them, they'd be right.)

Whatever, he's an asshole and an idiot, we shouldn't be suprised.

I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree. Poor little window washer, all unsuspecting. To me, that's hysterical.

aw, too soon?

seriously though, i think it has a tiny, itty bitty bit of relevance to the postal series. postal usually implies that you have a shitty little job that you hate, and then it gets so bad that you snap and kill. window washer has a shitty job, and then it gets a whole lot shittier when plane crashes into him. yeah, i realize it's a stretch.

i, personally, can laugh about 9/11 at this point. not that it was funny in any way, but if a joke was made in pour taste, i could probably laugh at it. my girlfriend, who lived in nyc when the attacks happened, would punch me in the balls for saying that. it depends on the person. i can see why kevin wants the guys who made this to be ass raped by bubba, and i can see why jimmy chuckled a little. i had no reaction to the video.

Yeah, the window washer sure didn't see it coming. Neither did the thousands of people who died that day or the thousands who have died since in our ridiculously misguided attempt to "eliminate terrorism".

I can see why you laughed at this now.
