Gears of War Trilogy: Starring CliffyB

Gears of War

A film adaptation of the extremely popular Gears of War series was inevitable, but a trilogy?  And not only that, but a "harder-edged" Lord of the Rings, you say?  I don't think so.  I'm all for video game turned movies as long as Uwe Boll has nothing to do with them, and I enjoyed the Resident Evil films (mainly due to the lovely Milla Jovovich).  I think a Gears movie might actually be somewhat interesting.

I'll admit that I have no expectations as most video game adaptations are usually craptastic (Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, Bloodrayne...wait, those are all Uwe Boll movies...) but I will try my best to be optimistic: ok,  The Halo film has potential, and the Prince of Persia movie could be good.

...Staying positive is hard.

And while the Gears of War series has the all too common aliens vs. mankind theme, if Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) gets the look of the world right, (that 'destroyed beauty' that makes the Gears games unique) then the film might have a chance.

And CliifyB... sorry, I mean Cliify Bleszinski, needs to have a cameo.  That would be worth the price of admission right there.

I don't understand why the two mediums even bother trying to cross-over because they hardly ever work (ex. video games into movies / movies into video games).

As much as most comic book films never capture the essence of the pages, video game movies fall even shorter. And as gamers we know that no movie can compare to the experience you get from playing the game yourself.

That's why I love the fact that Rockstar has no intention of making a GTA movie, because they see how it can sometimes cheapen the experience of the original product a la "Doom" and "Max Payne".

I'd watch it if it starred a green rabbit running around at super sonic speeds and shooting turtles with machine guns.

If Cliffy B gets anymore time in front of a camera, I might have to put a bullet in my head. And by the way, he doesn't earn the right to be referred to by his full name until he stops wearing those retarded T-shirts.

As long as they also do what the Halo films were going to try to do, the stories are set in the Gears universe, but are not taken right from the game itself. Tell a back story, a future story, or something entirely different. What I don't wan to see, is GOW the movie"opening scene, main character is in a prison..." that is what I don't wanna see. Showing how he got there...and the relationship with the other characters maybe...we will see

big advise to the people who make movies based on games, we dont want YOUR interpretation of vision of what you think the movie should be like or your own original storyline, gamers just want to see the game made to look real basically copy the fucking games storyline and make it live action . is that so hard to fallow? i mean silent hill basically got the gist and that's the best game based movie out there >:/
