Gnarls Barkley VS. Shadow of the Colossus

Here it is. The main reason that last week was a little light on the postings. Instead of writing the pulitzer level prose I usually commit to the web, I've been cutting this video.

See I've been listening to Gnarls Barkley's album quite a bit lately. Listening to the song St. Elsewhere I started thinking about Shadow of the Colossus and how well the two seemed to fit. So I decided to cut the two together. Cobbled together from clips found on the internets and some footage captured myself. All set to Gnarls Barkley's St. Elsewhere.

For people that don't know the basic story. Your character brings this dead girl to a forbidden land with the hope of bringing her back. A big booming voice from the skies tell you he can bring her back, if you kill these 16 Colossi spread throughout the land. But things are never as cut and dry as they appear...

Share it around, tell your friends, embed it on your blog.

I'd like to do more of these, if people enjoy it at all that is...

It's hard to fully appreciate it because I like the original soundtrack so much, but it works very well. Good job :)

The only thing I'm not sure about is showing a whole colossus fight, from beginning to end -- isn't that a bit too linear for a music video?

I wasn't sure how to tackle it either...

That's actually the 5 or 6th version I cut... It started with a bunch of colossi fights, then a few, then just one, then I changed which one...
I tried the non-linear thing but just couldn't get it to a place where I was happy with it.. maybe with more practice... this was my first attempt at a music video.

BTW- I agree with you on the soundtrack..

Nice job indeed! Ironic that Danger Mouse mixed Jay-Z with the Beatles - you mixed Fumito Ueda with Gnarls Barkley.

[...] Made by Kotobukiya the statue is a rendition of the 1st Colossus from the game, and at the price of these things, I’m really hoping they don’t make all 16. I love this game enough that I’d probably buy them all. Though I would like a statue of the 3rd Colossus (which I based my music video on). [...]

I don't think it really works it dosen't fit in with the sense of loneliness and sadness you get with shadow of the collossus.
