Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's box art

Ugh, it's kinda on the ugly side. I know I said this during our earlier post about the 80's song list for the Guitar Hero sequel, but I'm less interested each time I see a new element of the game. I understand the box doesn't mean jack when it comes to gameplay but that dude on the cover is freaking me out. Of course I'm not buying it on PS2 so I won't really have to worry about this when buying the (inevitable) 360 download.

Agreed. This seriously looks like some 14 year old fan photoshopped it. It's a shame that this is the real deal. Is this a sign of things to come from GH in the hands of Activision?

Just like in the 80s, when crappy hair and makeup POSER bands (almost) ruined metal, now they are ruining Guitar Hero. Poison, Warrent, Ratt and Crue SUCKED 20 years ago. AND THEY STILL SUCK!!! Anyone who wants to relive these pussy songs should hand over his testicles!

I'd question if the person on the left actually is a dude. "He" looks rather androgynous, don't you think?

well besides my parents thinking i'm gay i should be alright. For fucks sack i'm going to get disowned. Why is there a girl on the cover? I don't have real problem with it, but be realistic. There aren't really any female guitarist. Other than that this game should be pretty awesome. So much guitaring going on back then, i wonder what good songs made it. I already know gay ones did like "i want candy" which is just going to piss me off and already has.

OK, I admit there's slim pickings when it comes to girl bands in the 80's. But the Go-Go's were the first all-woman band to have a number one album. And that came out when? 1981! Women finally gained a real presence in rock, that's why a woman's on the cover. And read up on the characters. The guitarists you'll have to pick from are the same one's we've come to know and love (Clive Winston, Izzy Sparks, etc.) just with a retro, 80's look. The soundtrack looks pretty good, especially since they dropped "I want candy".

That said the following songs could save Guitar Hero 80's by shutting up a large portion of the dissenters:
AC/DC's Hell's Bells. It came out in 1980, has one of the most famous guitar solos of all time, and was written by a legendary rock band not yet represented in Guitar Hero.
Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train. Come on, it's Ozzy and an awesome song with a good guitar rift.
Then add something by Manowar, Van Halen, and Jethro Tull. That should shut-up a lot of the nay-sayers.
