Guitar Hero II Song Packs Released, Not all good news

guitarhero2_logo.jpgIt seems like we've really been Guitar Hero Central lately, doesn't it? Well, the news just keeps on coming. The first three song packs have hit the Marketplace. Each has 3 songs and costs 500 points a piece. So what was released?

Song Pack 1

  • Bark at the Moon - Ozzy Osbourne
  • Hey You - The Exies
  • Aces of Spades - Motorhead

Song Pack 2

  • Killer Queen - Queen
  • Take it Off - The Donnas
  • Frankenstein - The Edgar Winter Group

Song Pack 3

  • Higher Ground - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Infected - Bad Religion
  • Stellar - Incubus

In case you didn't notice, most of these were tracks from the first Guitar Hero. This isn't exactly what most people were thinking of when it comes to downloadable content (though I guess we should have seen it coming.) Also, judging by the comments I've been seeing around the web, a lot of people seem pretty miffed at the price. What do you think? Worth downloading? Or are you just going to break out your PS2 to play these bad boys?

Well, ok, it's a plus to be able to play GH1 songs with easy hammer-ons and pull-offs, and with 360 graphics and all that, but I love how they strategically place one new song and two old ones in every pack. Not a great way to please your loyal fanbase, but hey, screw them. There's money to be made.

As long as the old songs have new bass parts so they can be played co-op, then I'm acutally really glad they released some of the GH1 songs. I figured that's what would come out first.

They're a little pricey but I'll probably buy them. What sucks is there's one song in each pack I really want, but I'm sure they did that on purpose.

For those of us who don't own a PS2, looks like this is the only way to get these songs, so yes, guess I'll probably buy them.

To me it's not worth it. I want all the songs and I never played guitar hero 1, but the cost alone is enough to stop me from buying any time soon. I just can't bring myself to spend $20 for 9 new songs.

If they packaged all of the GH1 songs together for $15-$30 I'd buy them. Making us buy them piecemeal for $6.25 a pop is just ridiculous.

They should come up on your song list all the way at the bottom underneath the unlockable tracks.. the title listing is "downloadable tracks."

Make sure you're signed in with the profile you bought them with, I had that issue before.
