Not exaclty the gamers version of "Rosebud", but the above is from the 90-minute Nintendo commercial posing as a movie, "The Wizard". I'm excited and horrified to announce it's coming out on DVD August 29th. God help us all.
I'm forced to admit I probably saw this movie in the theater 4 or 5 times, and I. Loved. Every. Minute. Of. It. I had my parents buy it on VHS. I probably had a Wizard t-shirt. I guarantee I could recite the movie by heart. Anyone else remember how excited they were to see Super Mario 3 before it came out?
Problem is when I watch it in August, I'm sure I'll see it the way my parents must've seen it, awful beyond belief. I can imagine my dad shaking his head in disbelief, wondering if irreperable harm was being done to his son's brain for watching something so bad.
I'll do a full review when it's released, can't wait.
Maybe it's not always a good idea to re-live your childhood.
