I'd like to buy a <s>vowel</s> save game, Pat.

People try to sell a lot of crap on eBay. I've seen everything from snow forts to wish-bone shaped Cheetos, but this is the first time I can honestly remember seeing saved games.

As there are a surprising number of them on there, I figured I'd share the description from the first one I came across. It's for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune;

Tired of always getting killed on 'Crushing' or 'Hard' difficulty? Get your revenge after installing this 100% completed game save and kick some serious butt!

Use the 'Rewards' you need to get by a particular scenario on any level at any difficulty or don't use any at all. It's your call. Who needs a 'Strategy Guide'?

This auction is for one game save file for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for the PS3.

This game save file is 100% complete with all levels, all difficulties, all cheats and all extra items unlocked for you to use wherever and whenever you please.

This game save includes:

100% completion on all levels and difficulties, 61 of 60 treasures (yes, there's 61), 1000 medal points for all rewards (all weapons and infinite ammo - sweet!), play as any character in the game (Cartoon Drake is a hoot) and complete gallery pictures and videos. Everything is unlocked.

Complete directions on how to unzip and transfer the file via a USB flash drive or media card from your PC and load it onto your PS3 will also be included. (It's easy)

My first thought was "who would be lazy/dumb enough to buy this crap? Probably the same people who used to buy level 60's on WoW." Then I saw an auction for a 100% unlocked Marvel vs. Capcom, and I realized that I'm just as big as sucker as they are.

Why anyone would pay for something (non-retail) that can be obtained in less time and effort than it takes to purchase it is really beyond me.

My question is, doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of playing a game to begin with?

In the case of Uncharted. I beat it and thought it was a good game, but to unlock some of the bonuses I had to play through it again and find hidden crap in the world. So, I decided against it. Saved game files allow me to get the extra content without forcing me to play again. The whole point is to play for fun, and unlocking crap isn't fun to be... unless I see the words ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED come up. smilies/smiley.gif
