Above is a brutal yet accurate post title describing the post contained herein;

lastpinballinniagara

I've recently written a piece for the St. Catharines City Guide discussing a trek my daughter and I took last week to find a pinball machine in the Niagara Region. For those of you who've enjoyed our "death of the arcade" style posts, I thought it might be something you'd like. You can find the original post here.

(And if you haven't seen it yet, you seriously need to watch Tilt. Kill a hobo for a copy if you have to -- just see it.)

Good story, Jim. It got me thinking about looking around for a quality table of my own, to proudly display and play at my place. Any suggestions?

Gah, bajillions. Honestly though, it comes down to a matter of personal preference. I've always found that some tables just speak to me more than others. The best bet is to find somewhere that still offers them and get your hands on a few until you find one that fits like a glove. It'll happen sooner than later. smilies/smiley.gif

For my money, if I could have any table it'd be The Who's Tommy. I played the shit out of it when it first hit, and I loved the trick that let you put blinders over the flippers. Certainly not the best table out there, but one that really spoke to me.

Twilight Zone would be my choice. Though judging by it's prices on ebay I'm not the only one that feels that way.

And my choice would either be Addam's Family or South Park. I used to play the crap out of those at the movie theater where I worked.

@Dan -- tell me about it. After writing what I wrote, I did a quick hunt for Tommy. Of the 3500 made there's one in mint condition two hours from my front door...

but it's $2800. smilies/sad.gif

Actually there are pinball machines at the Great Canadian Midway. Mike and I went New Year's Day and there was one tucked back by the washrooms on the lower level. One and one alone.

Most of the supposed Pinball games they have now are those stupid coin ones where you shoot a coin out of a slot into a machine that is setup like a pinball table. So stupid.

Jim, if you ever find yourself in New Jersey, head down to Ocean City and take your daughter to Jilly's, it's truly one of the last arcades with plenty of pinball.

BTW - as bad as the new Indiana Jones movie was this past year, the "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull" pinball machine is actually really entertaining.
