Just 'cause we're not going to E3 this year doesn't mean we can't cover the shit out of it

You're probably asking yourself why you'd bother reading a site that isn't going to E3 for E3 news, and I'd probably have to ask you the same question. Of course, I could also give you a multi-reasoned answer.

1. All the big sites are going to be overloaded with news you don't really care about. Call it the rush to publish every press release under the sun, but since we're beholden to no one we'll do what we normally do... cover the stuff we find interesting.

2. We've got Canadians.

3. We're fucking hilarious.

I'm personally a little bitter about what E3 has become. Their media invite system seems set-up to make sure you get only the people you want to cover their stuff, and since PR firms and companies choose what journalists they want to attend you're kinda/sorta buying positive coverage. I'm not saying we turned down invitations to go, but I certainly didn't beat down doors trying to track one down either. So maybe a little distance from the event will do us good.

There ya go, we'll see you all next week while we cover what could potentially be (if my prediction comes true) the last event known as E3.

*raises hand* I was thinking... perhaps you could include a sort of "meta-editorial" of the impressions you get from people who are attending of the dying trade show - or your own, whatever. [At that point, it's kind of the same, isn't it?] I've gotten the impression that most press members and financial analysts are too jaded to care much anymore, and I'd just really like someone to specifically cover that angle.

So, maybe that's a tall order. Just a thought, in case you have the time/feel like it/etc.

Yeah, over the past couple years I've kinda stopped caring about E3. Especially when a lot of companies pulled out of the show this year.
It wouldn't surprise me if there is no E3 next year.

That said I'm looking forward to the Too Human demo dropping next week.

E3 is a dead show, it's just too stubborn to notice yet. It's been hemorrhaging for years, but only in the last three or so has it really started to take a toll. When they killed off Booth Babes and downsized the show, that was pretty much the death knell.

There are better shows.
