Let's ask for the impossible! Wii VC games we'd like to see.

nes_tengen.jpgTwo words. Tengen Tetris. Back in the NES days, it was vastly superior to the Nintendo version. But because of a legal dispute as to who owned the rights to Tetris, Tengen had to pull theirs from the shelves.

Shame too, cause not only did the Tengen version have 2 player side-by-side, but a cool 2 player co-op mode where you worked together... but only too a point. Since you had your own line count and score, you still had to win in the end. It made for some cool play.

Will we ever see this version on the Wii virtual console? Not in a million and one years. But it'd be nice. 2 player co-op online, that's what I'd like to see. Nintendo may have the famous 1st console version of Tetris, but it's not the good one.

Check out the co-op mode in action!

Any game you can think of that you'd like to see but know it'll never happen?

I can't think of any impossible titles, though I would like to see Capcom get on board. Me wants Mega Man 2. smilies/cheesy.gif

If anyone out there wants to know more about the Tetris rights saga, try to hunt down a copy of "Game Over: How Nintendo Zapped an American Industry, Captured Your Dollars, and Enslaved Your Children" by David Sheff. The title suggests some right wing anti-game nonsense, but it's actually quite a fair and balanced history of Nintendo. It's considered the definitive book on the subject, and there's quite a lengthy and detailed chapter on the Tetris thing.

And for those of you in television production, somebosy NEEDS to turn this book into a 12 part miniseries.

It would definite be nice, and this post is nice and so is the cute little vid, but wouldn't a nice link exchange be nicer?

What I'd really like to see is Heavy Barrel, except with some concession for the arcade's rotating joystick.

Hm... I can't really think of anything I want to see that won't appear on the VC.

They should offer Superman 64 for free; no, they should PAY you to download it and try it. smilies/cheesy.gif

@ Jimmy, doesn't Microsoft now own the rights to Capcom?

Here goes that Capcom buyout rumor again... It's false. I REPEAT: it is false! Capcom is still an independant company.

If Capcom were to jump on the VC bandwagon they need to start with the best game they ever made for the 8 bit era.... Adventure In The Magic Kingdom.
Sorry for the terrible joke, but the Wifey and I are going to Disney in Florida for our Anniversary so I guess I'm just in a Disney state of mind. But seriously, I think that Tecmo needs to get with Nintendo and release one of my absolute favorite NES games... Rygar, that or get the rights to River City Ransom..
