In a great step towards schooling parents about video games: Microsoft’s new Get Game Smart campaign is here with the goal of teaching families about “smart” gaming. This is an excellent way for parents to become more knowledgeable about their kid’s gaming hobby. There’s no denying this is a good thing, and I really hope many families take advantage of this because I’m getting sick of non-gamers asking me with disgusted looks if I’m into those violent games. I’m serious, I can’t take it anymore. The Get Game Smart website is up and they’re currently holding a video submission contest for kids and their parents to describe how they manage a "responsible digital lifestyle." Sounds… fun?
Maybe this campaign will end all controversies surrounding video games, stop politicians from continuously attacking the gaming industry, and no longer will clueless parents walk into GameStop not having the slightest idea of what game to buy for their kids! But I wouldn’t count on it.
