Time-Capsule Thursday: The Missle Command sales pitch

Back when we started the site we used to spend alot of time talking about the older retro stuff. Atari, Coleco and the like. We still do but not as much as I'd like. So we're going to start taking some time on Thursday's to look back at the times of old (70-80's). If you're getting your driver's license this year you won't remember any of this, but maybe you'll learn something! So I present Time-Capsule Thursday.

In the early days of games a person could make a video game all by themselves. A programmer for the Atari 2600 would sometimes do the graphics, code, music and the rest of it all by themselves. So before there were millions of dollars and huge marketing teams behind the games we play, there was just a guy with an idea.

Take for example Missle Command. Click on the pics to get a better look.

An idea typed out and sketched out. One step up from cocktail napkin. Luckily it was approved and went on to become an absolute classic in every sense of the word. Can you imagine the amount of money wasted on a marketing pitch today?
