Miyamoto included in Time magazine's "100 most influencial people of the year" list

It's so refreshing to see a print magazine (or anything in the mainstream media for that matter) acknowledge video games as something more than murderer-training wastes of time. But thankfully Time magazine has decided to include game icon Shigeru Miyamoto on their list of influencial people, in their "Builders and Titans" group. Steve Jobs (Apple/Pixar) and Richard Branson (Virgin everything) were also included in that group.

Now I have to tamp down expectations and say that Time's list isn't exactly the be-all end-all definitive list. Alot of it boils down to a yearly popularity contest and of course since it's a list can be debated ad infinium. But to be included in the first place is still a hell of an acomplishment, especially for someone not exaclty well known outside of the gaming world.

I don't mind saying Miyamoto is a personal hero of mine and easily one of my biggest role models. Though I'll never likely design a video game the man's youthful exuberance and love of life is something to be applauded and cherished. Congratulations Miyamoto-san, you are truly deserving.
