MMO Based on Books About Walking = Popular

The REAL TrilogyRandal's still playing Star Wars Galaxies.

Following a surprisingly warm critical reception, word out of the Midway/Turbine camp is that The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar is currently the best-selling PC game in North America, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Hot sales don't shock me; after all, fandom can do crazy things to a person. However, the sharp reviews would seem to indicate that this is the best game in recent memory to bear the Lord of the Rings literary license. It's far too early to tell if Shadows of Angmar has any shot of usurping World of Warcraft as the life-sucking game of choice for the MMO populace, but the combination of a beloved license and quality gameplay gives it a better shot than, say, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

For those who have played it -- is there a lot of walking?

Isn't it sad that the first comment has nothing to do with LOTR, but with the reference you're making?

Damn you Kevin Smith!! I talked my wife into scoring me an autographed Clerks II for Christmas, only to witness an HD-DVD release three months later.. Curses!!
