Mortal Kombat II... I'm 14 again.

A game has to be damn impressive for me to buy it from either XBL or the Playstation Store. Even then, I think about buying them, but never do. It's just not my thing, and yes, I realize I'm missing out. However, when I heard that the Playstation Store was going to have Mortal Kombat II available for download, I knew I would buy it the first chance I had. After the initial announcement, I heard nothing about this game and enough time went by that I even forgot it was coming out.

Last night I got a text from fellow contributor B that read, "Mortal Kombat 2 is ready for download. It's $5”. I was asleep, but I got that message first thing this morning, and after a morning deuce I ran upstairs and started downloading. Right here is where I could start a mean rant about buying things from the Playstation Store, but I'll spare you that this time. Any who, I started playing the arcade version, and it's just as cheap as ever, but it didn't bother me as much because of how rusty I am. This used to be my game. I would crush people in the arcades (remember those?), I had the six-button arcade stick for my Genesis, and I would beat my friends until they didn't want to play any more. One of my high school teachers had a Genesis in his room, and I beat the mess out of punks in my homeroom. I had every player mastered. I can't remember shit now. Oh well, back to basics.

pesina_cage.jpgB and I got a game going and spent the next half hour laughing at each other. We both suck, the controls are unresponsive, our hands work too fast for them, and the PS3's D-pad just doesn't feel right, but none of that matters. It's the exact same game it was in the arcade. It looks exactly that same, the goofy animations are exactly the same, the cheesy other dimension scare tactics are as funny as they were, and when you upper-cut the mess out of someone, dude pops out and says "TOASTY!" just like in the arcade. It's fantastic. If you lose and don't continue, you can watch the other player play the arcade mode, and hop in when you're ready. If you have a PS3 (yeah, I realize most of you don't) and five bucks to your name, there's no reason you shouldn't be all over this. Best downloadable game ever.

This is probably one of the best downloads that I've ever purchased. It has its bouts of lag but its totally playable. I printed out a FAQ with all the moves Greshkov. Its on later tonight!

Hahahahaha!

Since you're white and with glasses, you should stick with Johnny Cage.

As a clever young 4th grader once said, earlier this television series, "RAAAAACCCEEE WARSSS!!!!"

(For those of you who don't get my joke, go to the XBL Marketplace and download the first episode of South Park from this season, you'll enjoy it, I promise!)
