Multimedia Consumption Junction, What's Your Function? (What'cha Been Playing?)

Welcome to the weekly post formerly known as What'cha Been Playing. Last week I talked about The Shield and Preacher since I hadn't really been playing anything and it ended up getting a pretty good response. Also, it just kind of makes sense for us to talk about those other things. Personally I'm more into music than any other media but since this is a gaming blog I don't really get a chance to talk about those sort of things.

Ironically I have been playing something this week for review: The Witcher. This PC RPG from last year recently received a new release in the Enhanced Edition where they streamlined the engine, re-recorded dialogue and added missions among other things. It's a very nice package of what has been a pretty cool game so far. It's one of those 60+ hour games so I want to spend some more time with it before I post first impressions but I'll probably spill a little bit of my opinion on the next BitCast.

With the recent (albeit inevitable) announcement of Phish getting back together to do some shows at Hampton I've been listening to their New Year's Eve 1995 Madison Square Garden show while I'm in my car. Death Cab For Cutie has been my work soundtrack after having gone to see them last Sunday at the House Of Blues in Atlantic City. Awesome, awesome show.

Beyond that I'm almost caught up with The Shield and I've started volume 4 of Preacher.

What about you, What's Your Function?

Just a heads-up: there is an actual consumptionjunction.com, and is very likely NOT a website you'd want to be associated with.

I've been re-acquainting myself with an old friend called Chrono Trigger. I never beat it the first time I played it, but a good friend entrusted me with his video game collection while he was away on the exotic beaches of the United Kingdom, and while digging around I found them and realized that Chrono Trigger was in the mix (as well as Ogre Battle, but that's a story for another time), so I've been playing that heaps and heaps. I can't believe I missed it the first time around!

Musically, I've been listening to a lot of indie stuff lately, namely The Weakerthans and Tokyo Police Club (an aside: you cannot be my friend if you don't like Tokyo Police Club), and I also discovered Pavement for the first time. I'm kinda disappointed that I didn't know about them when I was growing up, 'cause they're kinda awesome.

Sonic Chronicles, which is pretty good. Oblivion, which I completely love, and gearing up for Golden Axe next week.

Gonna try De Blob sometime today, too.
