Here we are again.God Hand was Clover Studio's unexpected swansong to the game industry. While not on the same level of Okami, God Hand is a wonderful game in many ways, thanks to its fun, ridiculously over-the-top fighting, and the corny, risque mood throughout. The sound in particular works great to establish this, with laugh tracks, great (and by great I meen Cheesy great) voice acting, and of course a great soundtrack. All the tunes are great and memorable, but undoubtedly the one that sticks in your mind the most is the first one you hear; the main theme of the game. Comments? Suggestions? [mpeg width="320" height="80"]http://www.thebbps.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/01-genes-rock-a-bye.mp3[/mpeg] The tune starts off with a some chords on guitar and drum hits, before beginning with the main tune on plucked guitar, akin to the style of surf rock bands like the Beach Boys. This main melody sticks in your mind almost instantly. The melody is backed up by another guitar strumming chords and drum beats. The melody itself is snappy, simple, and moves up and down quite smoothly. It then repeats the first half, using higher pitched notes in the second half. Then, the second part part is repeated, but one octave higher this time. Then, we have a new section involving the guitar still plucking out the main melody, with the drums and strummed guitar chords occasionally joining, and with cymbal and drum providing an underlying rhythm, before the tune repeats. The tune may sound like it would not go well with the game, but trust me, it aids the tone and the action immensely, and is one of the reasons why God Hand is such a memorable game. Hopefully more games like this will be made in the future, because a game like this deserves to be made known.
