My Personal Pile 'O Shame

Though there was some confusion yesterday with the picture Jimmy posted and what he wrote, I decided to gather up the essentials of my Pile 'O Shame and snap a picture to put it all in perspective:

As you can see there are a great many PS2 games in this pile. A while back I went on a big used game shopping spree when the PS3 launched and everyone was dumping their old PS2 titles off at GameStop. It's also safe to assume if you see the first game in a series (Like Onimusha or Sly Cooper) I have the other games in the series sitting on the shelf right next to them.

You'll also notice that Jade Empire makes a double appearance. That's how much I've been meaning to play that game that I thought if I owned it for two systems I would have more options when I finally decided to play it.

Too many games, too little time...

irony: i·ro·ny (n):
1. the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning: the irony of her reply, “How nice!” when I said I had to work all weekend.
2. Playing "Too Human" before playing "Eternal Darkness."

Why do I somehow feel proud that my pile of shame is bigger than yours? I really shouldn't at all... that's why it is called a pile of SHAME.

You bought Devil May Cry 2 and 3 even though you haven't played 1? Not just that, but the DMC3 Special Edition?

What do you smoke, and how can we get it to every American? It might save the economy.

Also -- stop thinking about replying and go play the Team ICO games NOW.

You seriously have some of the best games ever made sitting in your stack. You win -- stop buying new games.

That's the DMC triple pack, it was $30, quite the bargain in my world.

Whatever it was, I must've had some too... considering I own unplayed the 4 Splinter Cell games, 3 Prince of Persias, 2 Tomb Raider games and a buttload of Need For Speed games.

I actually got a few hours in to Ico and got REALLY stuck.

The only time I ever tried to play SotC I literally couldn't get past the first wall or whatever it was and almost threw the game out the window.

Dude, Kevin... I think win for losing with that list. Those are a lot of great games up there.

Also, give Castlevania another chance. I have only 2 guesses as to what this "wall" was that blocked you... It shouldn't be that bad, though. Give it another try, and let us know how that goes.

Tralfaz, I was actually referring to Shadow of the Colussus when I wrote that. The controls are really strange in that game and I must have not been in the most forgiving mood when I tried to play it.

Kev,
I'd look into human cloning if I were you, because "Viewtiful Joe" is one of my favorite games of all-time. Very challenging but also very fun. Along with "Resident Evil 4" this game made me glad I had a Gamecube.

Ooops! haha... that 'C' there at the end. Gotcha.

I haven't played Ico ('cept for the ancient demo) nor Shadow of the Colossus - really I should. Someday.

I had about half of those in my pile:

I'd say you need to at least play:

Eternal Darkness
Shadow of the Colossus
Beyond Good and Evil

These games aren't relatively long in all honesty. Beyond Good and Evil has the most variation (covers a lot of genres). Each would probably take a handful of hours. There's really not much story to SotC nor side-quests so it's quite time friendly to just take down a colossus or two and save to come back later.

I thought ICO was highly over-rated myself...I see why it is interesting but after playing Shadow it just wasn't as enticing. Killzone was highly laughable if you've played a solid FPS before (horrid graphics, very repetitive, annoying voice samples, very little enemy variation, stupid AI, etc). FEAR is worth one playthrough, if not just to blow someone in half with a shotgun. Jade Empire didn't play well in my opinion, and I lost interest after a couple hours. The story seemed like it could be interesting though.

I know how it goes...time never seems to increase. My pile of shame is mostly 360 games at this point, but there some last gen stuff in there as well. I've not even bothered to purchase a couple PS3 games I want yet.
