The 30+ hour expansion pack for the already epic Elder Scrolls: Oblivion titled "Shivering Isles" will be hitting on March 27th (my birthday!) for the hefty price of 2400 MS points ($30). That's quite expensive on the surface but when you consider you're getting a world that's a quarter the size of Oblivion with that much new content you're essentially getting another game to play in the world you already know. Personally I think this expansion pack is a good look at the future of console games. A company can expand and attach new stories and characters, new weapons and armor, and create what essentially is another game. Bonus is, they don't have to wrap a new engine/world/narrative around it and get it on store shelves. What this means is a quicker turnaround for the consumer, and hopefully cheaper prices for everyone involved. To me, it'll be nice to play Shivering Isles without having to change discs and leave the world of Oblivion, I'll be able to move between the two inside the same game. It also gives the company a chance to fix issues with older titles with the release of new content. Now all we need is a larger hardrive for the 360. 'Cmon already! [Elder Scolls Forums]
