New Oblivion content is like paying for cheat codes

elderscrolls.gifOn Thursday, July 13th, A new Oblivion content pack called "The Vile Lair" will be released for $1.98.

Features include:

- A multilevel lair for murderous players to find refuge

- The Font of Renewal, where a player may purge himself of Vampirism

- The Shrine of Sithis where the infamous player may heal and be cured of disease

- A Dark Minion, who the player may employ to find gold in a most unseemly manner

- A 'cattle pen' for vampires to dine

- An indoor garden of venomous plants, including the notorious Chokeberry to feed to your enemy

- Various furnishing upgrades, including a study room and storage area

All pretty cool stuff, and it even ties into the Dark Brotherhood side quest which so far has been my favorite part of the game. My problem with all this lies in the second feature listed.

You see a friend of mine was playing through Oblivion and became a Vampire by accident. Curing himself involved a bunch of steps and soul gems and other items. All in all it took him a few hours of gameplay to get "cured". Now you're telling me that all he needed to do was spend $1.98 and all the problems can go away? It seems dishonest to make something in the game very difficult to achieve, then make it automatic if they purchase additional content. I guarantee if you told him he could skip all the nonsense and just pay the money he would've. Granted it's only 2 bucks but still. What's next, pay a dollar and that pesky mission you can't beat will go away?

Am I the only one that sees it this way?

No... you are not the only one who feels this way. It makes me mad how Bethesoft is trying to start a new trend.... creating a game with little content, instead of releasing an expansion pack; just charge per item! Apparently paying $70.00 just for the Collectors edition is not enough anymore.

I wish they would have an update that would include the ability to store your things in your house on a shelf or in a display case nicely instead of just dropping your shit on the floor and having to rummage through it every time you want to carry something again.

Hey Harpua Scorpi,

I discovered on the PC Version, if you press and hold your USE KEY above an item in your inventory, you will be able to place items. It would be a bit time consuming, but you will be able to store items on your shelves or display case nicely.

I hope that helps.
