Ever since Google revealed their Android operating system, I've been hoping for a Linux-based handheld. Well, it looks like a company called Hardkernel have too, as they have a gaming and media device called the ODROID up for preorder. Sharing the processor of the iPhone 3GS but containing an assload of RAM, this thing has the specs of a beast.

But as soon as I saw a picture of the ODROID, two words came to my head: "rip. off." The thing looks far too similar to Bandai's Wonderswan for this to be a coincidence. There are two D-pads on the left side to enable holding the device length-wise, as well as one D-pad on the left to hold it horizontally, a la the PSP or DS. Maybe this vertical position is meant for reading e-books or PDFs, but I still think it's a bit of a rip. Nonetheless, if this thing gets some decent support and has a modest price point, I may have to pick it up.
