...or so I thought. Turns out Sony has once again proven how cool they are about customizing their hardware to fit your need. Catching up on my weekend reading in Google Reader this morning I was a little surprised to find an article titled "Playstaion Tip #5 - DIY Hard Drive Upgrade". Naturally I assumed this would require popping out a few screws, tearing that little "VOID IF TORN" warranty sticker, and getting down to brass tacks. Turns out it's a lot easier than that. You can use just about any 2.5" HDD on the market -- or an external if you don't want to have to get into the nitty gritty of replacing an internal hard drive. The article on Playstation Blog is actually just a gateway to a CNET Asia tutorial on the subject, so I'll shortcut it for you in the links below. Is it just me, or has Sony gone WAY to the left with the PS3 after their fascist like attacks on PSP modders when the portable first rolled out? A lot of people knock the PS3, but this is just another example of why I vote it as my hardware of choice. Now if only they'd get some damned software.. [CNet Asia via Playstation.Blog]
