RARE Announces Viva Pinata for Nintendo DS

What's that old saying? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

Hot off the heels of yet another month of DS dominated hardware sales, RARE has taken center-stage at Comic-Con to Announce Viva PiÃ±ata for the Nintendo DS.

While the gameplay will be a direct port of the original Xbox 360 exclusive game, the title will be toned down and form fitted for the Nintendo DS and its unique control options. RARE has made no other announcements regarding the DS conversion, except that the game will not be developed by RARE - but the porting-devs will work closely with the original developers.

Although some of our fellow sites are surprised this has gone down, this has happened a few times before (Sup? Age of Empires DS, MechAssault, [oft-rumored] Halo DS).

Get the kiddies hooked on Viva PiÃ±ata DS, solidify the brand on television and convert those fans to Xbox 360 fanboys when Viva PiÃ±ata: Party Animals ships this holiday.

Smart strategy.

I hope this results in some Rare N64 games on the Virtual Console! I'm sure Goldeneye 007 is too much to ask (stupid licensing) but Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini, Diddy Kong Racing, and the Banjos would be nice.
