Reggie talks GoldenEye for the Wii??

In a recent interview with MTV, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime talked all things Wii, including this little tidbit when asked about seminal classic Goldeneye coming to the Wii virtual console.
"Would I love to see it on virtual console? Absolutely. But there are a lot of issues there. Suffice it to say we would love to see it, so we're exploring all the rights issues."

n64goldeneyeboxsm.jpgNow just cause they want it donesn't mean they'll get it. Microsoft owns Rare now, and Activision owns the Bond license. So Nintendo is gonna have to pony up some cash (some to a direct competitor) in order to get the game on the Wii.

Is it worth it? I know the game is considered a classic of the multiplayer FPS genre, but now that we're used to Quake Arena and Unreal tournament, will this game hold up? Something tells me it won't. I still remember how lackluster the single player game was, and I think multiplayer was successful because of the 4 ports on the N64.

Don't get me wrong I LOVED this game, but I doubt it aged well. But I hope I'm wrong.

It really hasn't held up well at all. I played it not too long ago after a few years of playing the Timesplitters games and Golden Eye is painfully slow and not exactly a joy to play control-wise. I loved it back in the day but now it's like the alzheimers aunt you loved but try to ignore now because it makes you sad.
