RE1-cover.gifThe first in a hopefully weekly look at some of the worst videogame audio ever. Got a game we should include? This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

How good does a game have to be for people to overlook what may be the worst voice acting ever committed to tape. I realize that back when this game was made audio and voice were still somewhat new ideas for games, but there's just no excuse for this.

Resident Evil has the somewhat dubious distincting of being loved and made fun of at the same time. People point to it as a real turning point in games, after all it did kind of create the survival horror genre. It's actually the game that convinced me to get a Playstation.

At the same time I know most people refer to the "master of unlocking" line of dialogue as the lightning rod for bad videogame voice acting, but have you actually heard it lately? It's probably worse than you remember.

In case the audio players don't appear for you, the text below describing each clip is also a link to said clip. Enjoy (at your own risk)

...you were almost a Jill Sandwhich!

The Master of Unlocking line.

Ouuuuuch.

...perhaps that was the most important part.

Look up Aquanox 1 for PC. European voice acting. SO HORRIBLE. It has to be experienced.

It's not as well known for those without a Saturn, but... Shining Force 3.

If you've played it, you know. Pretty much every voice in it is a real stinker.
