Resistance 2 Info Drops Like a Hydrogen Bomb; Forums Aflutter

Those clearly inhuman developers at Insomniac have let Game Informer magazine in on one of the biggest scoops of the new year –

Resistance 2 is coming for PS3 in Fall 2008. Yes, this year.

The bullet points read like science fiction – technologies and numerals that could not possibly be wrung from today's hardware, which lends further credence to the idea that the developers have some sort of alien edge on their side:

  • 60-man online battles
  • 8-player co-op online (or 2 locally via splitscreen)
  • apparently 2 campaigns, although one might be dedicated to co-op play
  • a customizable, perkable Class system for players: Heavies, Special Ops, Medics, Ranged, etc.
  • new enemy A.I. that scales by distance; i.e. closer enemies are much more cunning
  • new vehicles of course, such as the Chameleon (a cloaked Stalker)
  • partially randomized geometry between level play-throughs (ye gods!)

They've clearly pulled out all the stops on this one. People used to joke about Resistance being "sent to die" at the PS3's launch. It wasn't really true, but now I'm wondering if Killzone 2 might possibly end up in that position.

Berserk hype riot now in progress at NeoGAF.

Don't understand why people are so shock that Resistance 2 is coming out this year. The first one was release in November, 2006. It has some neat features, though I do think 60 player games are a bit much. That reminds me, I haave to go back and finish the first one.

This definetly sounds exciting. Especially the online aspects of the game which the Playstation 3 really needs. Isomniac are delivering the goods for the Playstation 3 and props to them for it.
