And so it begins... R-Type for the TG-16, 800 points.

It was only a matter of time until the phrase "starting at 600 points" meant "we'll charge you whatever the @#$% we want." For shame, Hudson. Actually, I don't know who to blame this one on. Is this even a Hudson owned game? Or is this still IREM? Either way I call shenanigans on Nintendo. Shouldn't they be putting a "this is the price for this console, period" pricing structure in place? This is the big N's equivalent of putting a lump of coal in my stocking. Boo-urns. Here's the official list of Christmas Day titles on the VC as per Nintendo's press release;

- Super Mario Bros. (NES) - 500 points

- Street Fighter II (SNES) - 800 points

- Super Castlevania IV (SNES) - 800 points

- Toe Jam & Earl (Genesis) - 800 points

- R-TYPE (TG-16) - 800 points

I know what I want for Christmas - a better Virtual Console.

I had read that the best selling games on the VC were the TG-16 games. That being the case they probably had 2 courses of action. Raise the TG-16 prices or lower the others. Suprise suprise theu decided to raise em.

I want to support the virtual console, don't make me change my mind Nintendo

OH NOES I HAF TO PAI TOO DOLLARZ MOAR WTF O NOES

Get a grip. It's only 2 bucks more. You should be thankful that they are even having Turbografx games to download in the first place.

Besides, a large percentage of the people who own Wiis have not played these games before. I didn't mind paying 8 Euros for Gunstar Heroes, as I'd never played it before.

Quit throwing shit-fits every time Nintendo(or other companies, for that matter) does something that's slightly inconvenient.

It's not that it's inconvenient Liam, I think people may just be a bit more upset at the price structure change. Nintendo had announced the different price points for the different platforms and they're suddenly changing it. It's a matter of them finding out haw far they can push the market. It is the end of the world? no. But it's annoying, which is all he was trying to say i think. I agree with him.

I don't think getting a lump of coal in your stocking would be something to be filed under 'annoying'. But I see what you're getting at.

I hope they bring some more side scrolling shooters like R-Type to the VC, and I'd love to see them bring some previously japan-only titles in this genre to the U.S. via VC.

The price doesn't bother me. TG-16 games aren't really easily obtainable in any other form. Due to limited interest, TG-16 emulation was much more uncommon than that of other consoles, even when Emulation was at its highest peak, and you never saw nearly as many TG games or consoles in used bins, even when places like Gamestop seemed to have stacks of every console released in the U.S. available at dirt cheap prices.

For the majority of retro gaming fans who wanted their TG-16 fix, our only sure fire option thus far has been Ebay.
