Rumor: Blizzard making land changes with new WoW expansion?

The people over at WoW Insider have found a nice little tidbit of info in the new map of Azeroth that was shown last week to show off the new continent of Northrend. What you're looking at below is the new map (with the new area in the upper middle).

What makes this different is the shapes of the other continents. The blue outline marks the shapes of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor in "The Burning Crusade" edition of the game.

There's quite a few tweaks and changes to the land shapes, and as of yet nothing has been officially announced. A few of these adjustments are no doubt to create a spot to get to and from the new area (think ship ports).

You've misinterpreted that. The map underneath is an alpha map of WoW. The blue over the top is the current map. It says so quite, quite clearly on the WoWInsider page!

It does?

I've looked at the page and I can see a reference to the alpha map in the comments, but nothing official in the story

Then it appears I am wrong (none of this "mistaken but not wrong, dear" crap). Sorry!

...tis but a rumor after all

I think I'd actually be pleased if Sithilus sank under the ocean, it was a crappy zone. Perhaps Blizzard are trying to phase out old raid content that is perhaps an embarrassment now that no-one uses it any more, but why delete content?

To be honest, I'm a 46lvl druid and haven't even been to Sithilus yet... is it really that bad?

For the love of all things holy, Silithus sucks. And that's putting it as tactfully as I can.

"They say" it takes about 3 months to get to 60 and another to get to 70 at a reasonable play rate on your first character - that was about right for me (level 70 Bare Durid, my only 70). Unfortunately, I have to break it to you that "the game begins at 70" is pretty much true... Skip Sithilus!

Does BBPS have a contributor who is actually 70? Also, bring back the old site design.

No 70's here.... yet. I just started playing a few months back (April) and I have a 46 and a 31 (plus a few other 10's I started just to try them out... so I'm getting there!

The old site design did make a comeback for our 1 year anniversary and who knows what changes are coming down the road! (was it the duck hunt banner or something else you really miss? I'm always open to suggestions to make things easier for the readers)
