StarCraft 2, First Look

It's been a whirlwind week for Blizzard (pun intended).  I guess that's what happens when you unveil the most eagerly anticipated title in the history of Korea.  Ever wonder if StarCraft has covertly made it's way into North Korea?  Kind of like Rock'n'Roll did in 80's Iran or the Soviet Union?  God damn that would be cool.  Whatever - no time for me to ramble.  We've got to get on with these screenshots!

These disappointing, disappointing screenshots.

It's not that there's anything wrong with them.  I mean, the number of enemies on the screen in the first shot is downright impressive, and everything looks nice -- it's just that...  I dunno, this just seems like a title that deserves a little more of a visual oomph.  Whatever.  It's StarCraft, it's bound to be good.  Plus, Koreans, although more than happy to manufacturer our high end computer parts, probably can't afford too many of their own.  If my ethnocentricity is right, then I can understand why they'd want to keep the system requirements down.  Plus, you know, Mac's..

In addition to the above screenshots, Blizzard also released some mad cool concept art;

I love the second shot.  It's very "Rebel Base on Yavin IV."  All of the concept art has been fantastic.  If they put out a special edition with an artbook, I'll pre-order if I have to.

I definitely agree, this looks like Starcraft with shinier graphics and a few new units. I'd much prefer they reinvent the game instead of releasing a glorified expansion pack.
