Not much has happened this week, no big announcements; there's been a patch for the 360 version of Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising is out for the Wii, and there's even been some talk about Resident Evil 6.
Another Resident Evil Reboot with RE6 It seems Jun Takeuchi (RE5's producer) understands the issues surrounding RE5, namely the outdated controls, and thee need for some (more) change in the Resident Evil series. In a recent interview with 1Up Takeuchi discussed a RE4 style reboot with RE6. Resident Evil 5 isn't even out and there's already talk about the next one, and I am definitely looking forward to another evolution in the series. One of the most needed changes (in my opinion) would be the ability to strafe (like in Dead Space), and I also wouldn't mind seeing the character speed increased, mainly the way too slow aiming and how long it takes to turn around. Both of those issues should be quick and easy to change. Red Xbox 360 Official
Nothing special here, this has been well known for awhile now, it's basically a red Elite, that comes bundled with Street Fighter HD and RE5 for $399. I'm a little underwhelmed by the 260's Resident Evil edition console, if it had an Umbrella Corporation logo on it then I'd definitely have a nerdgasm forcing me to buy it upon release. But red? Just red? Red and nothing else? That's a bummer. The PS3 got a very cool Resident Evil PS3 edition that has a Tri-Cell logo on it. Now that I would buy... if I didn't already have a PS3. I think a better bundle would've been a 360 Zombie bundle that had the same red 360, but it comes with Resident Evil 5, Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, and Dead Space. I realize those games were made by three different companies, but wouldn't that be the best bundle ever? Dead Rising: Chop til you Drop out now If you have a Wii and are looking for some zombie kickassery, Dead Rising's move to the Wii is out now. Unfortunately, the game is getting the reviews I expected it to get, averaging in the mid to high sixties on Metacritic. This is a game that I just don't think should've moved to the Wii. Resident Evil worked with Umbrella Chronicles and RE4 Wii Edition, and Dead Space could work too, but the only good thing about Dead Rising was the hordes of zombies. I don't know about you, but fighting a small group of zombies in a now-linear environment just doesn't do it for me.
Finally, the Left 4 Dead patch has arrived! All I can say is OMFG! The patch that PC users have been enjoying for weeks has finally come to the 360. This patch takes care of many thing, the major fixes are: Fixed mini-gun physics exploit Fixed several map exploits (Jesus Room/Plane, etc.) Added HUD elements to show status of other infected players Normalized special infected melee damage Players can only change teams once per map Tank spawns at the same % through the map for both teams in versus mode Made the Tank and Witch spawn directly on the escape route Increased chance of getting the Tank or Witch Easier for a Hunter to pounce on a Survivor who is meleeing Increased Minimum damage a Hunter pounce does Fixed Smoker tongue tolerance Smoker now has to be killed or the tongue destroyed for the tongue to break Survivors cannot bash someone off the tongue until the Survivor being pulled is paralyzed or hanging Fixed case where you could point at a Survivor but not register a tongue hit Smoker tongue does damage every second while dragging paralyzed Survivors Bashable objects now appear (to the Tank) with a red glow Tanks hitting a car with an alarm disables the alarm permanently Tank frustration timer is only reset by hitting Survivors with rocks or fists Reduced autoshotgun damage against Tanks This is less than half the list of overall changes in the update, and I would list those too, but I think I'm going to go play some Left 4 Dead now...

If that's true, then things are getting interesting. I've been on the fence about getting a Xbox 360 since it was first released. I have a policy that I don't buy a console unless there are a few games that I want for it, and I eventually did build up that list for the 360. However, the overall reliability of the console has been holding me off: I want it to last as long as my NES (21 years old and counting!). If they do manage to improve the build quality, it might just push me toward the edge. Besides, having a red console would go well alongside my purple GameCube and white Wii...
